We are offering a great opportunity to sponsor the first ever touring production of Dragged Tae the Steamie, the only official Drag version of Tony Roper’s iconic play, The Steamie.

It is an opportunity for your brand to be a part of something very special.

In 2022 we sold-out eight shows in Glasgow’s Britannia Panopticon and received a lot of requests to take it on tour. We have already sold over 25% of tickets across Scotland and we are about to launch our intensive advertising campaign to help ensure it’s a sell-out and we would like to invite your brand to be a part of the story. In exchange for support of £5,000 or over, we will:

  • Provide a Full-page advert in our program
  • Provide up to 10 tickets for Dragged tae the Steamie for yourself and your staff in any of the venues across Scotland included in the 2023 tour.
  • Name your company as a 'Steamie Saint' on all our social media, website and Britannia Panopticon’s website and we will be circulating a special press release thanking you for your help.
  • We will also host a unique event in Britannia Panopticon Music Hall for you free of charge which will be sure to impress your customers, and staff. Britannia Panopticon is the oldest surviving music hall in the world and is one of the charities that we are fundraising for with this touring production.

Supporting Charity

As part of this tour, we are fundraising and awareness raising for two Scottish charities. One third of the Net profits from the 2023 tour of Dragged Tae the Steamie will be donated to these two charities. They are:

  1. The Glasgow Children’s Hospital, a very emotive cause for the Dragged tae the Steamie company as one of the cast members, James T Smith’s nine-year-old niece is currently recovering from severe injuries after a recent accident. Please see https://www.glasgowchildrenshospitalcharity.org for more information about the charity.
  2. Britannia Panopticon Music Hall, which is the oldest surviving original music hall in the world where Stan Laurel made his stage debut in 1906. It is an ongoing conservation project and the venue that first hosted Dragged tae the Steamie, it is recognised as a safe venue for the LGBTQ+ community, and it is a charity close to the heart of Dragged Tae Production Ltd, Tony Roper and Dave Anderson (who are both patrons of the Friends of Britannia Panopticon Music Hall SCIO). Please see https://britanniapanopticon.org for more information about the music hall, the charity, and its work.

Objectives

The rest of the of the net profits will go towards the Dragged Tae Productions Ltd. objectives which are to:

  • Create more productions that introduce a new audience to Scottish Theatre.
  • Encourage a new appreciation for Scottish Drag performance.
  • Create and provide paid opportunities to Scottish based creatives from all backgrounds especially those from areas of social deprivation, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Celebrate the culture and history of Scotland.
